Our MISSION
Children should be safe.
We are a coalition of educators with a simple goal: we want our students to be safe.
We work with our students every single day to help introduce them to the world around us. We usher them into magical worlds of literature, chemistry, logarithms, language, and pottery; side by side, we delight in the joy of discovery and the promise of learning.
We urge them to do their best in our classrooms, libraries, practice rooms, and athletic fields—and we seek to foster within them high standards for themselves: to be kind and open-minded; to be curious and thoughtful; to be conscientious and caring of others.
Our politicians and powerful lobbies are failing our students.
They plan to have our youngest students grow up in a nation that treats a school shooting as an inextricable part of our nation’s fabric. They tell us that nothing can be done.
They would have us believe that the massacre of children is unavoidable.
We are a coalition of educators with a simple message: silence and inaction in the face of slaughter are complicit in tragedy.
Because too many politicians are beholden to interests that prioritize both profitability and guns over the health, safety, and wellbeing of children, we who have dedicated our lives to children must act.
Because too many people believe that the obstacles in the way of meaningful gun control are insurmountable, we owe it to our students to help make our nation a safer place for learning.
We are a coalition of educators with a simple goal: we want our students to be safe.
