What We Do
We are educators determined to make a difference. We are educators determined to protect our students from the inaction of our politicians.
Advocacy
Merely wishing that things would change is not enough. The time to act is now.
We meet regularly to discuss proposals and initiatives and to organize and prepare for town-hall meetings and demonstrations. Change starts from the bottom up, so we invite local and state legislators to attend town-hall meetings to hear from the unified voices of educators.
Support
It is up to us to decide: what help will we provide for children who suffer from mental illness?
Do we want to help them buy guns?
Or do we want to help them realize that they are not alone, that there are people who can and will help them become healthier and happier?
We advocate for increased funding dedicated to school counseling and to community support groups that provide warmth and care to those who need it most.
Care
The casualties of shootings are not the only victims: many survivors do not emerge from the shooting whole.
Our coalition hopes to provide resources for the support and care of students who have been traumatized by senseless violence.
Increased funding for school counseling departments and volunteers trained in therapy are essential to a community's recovery.
